New York mayor Eric Adams in his election campaign emphasized that he wanted to turn New York into a crypto metropolis. He even went as far as to take his first three paychecks in Bitcoin. But after pushback from environmentalists he came out against crypto mining saying he supports crypto currency but not crypto mining.
Now Environmental conservation comittee of the New York state assembly has voted to move along a proposed law that would ban proof of work crypto currency for 2 years.
It seems like a ban on crypto mining is coming in New York, with the New York mayor also being against mining.
From the actions of New York mayor and the state assembly it seems like they wants all the benifits of crypto but none of it's drawbacks.
