It was only a couple years ago when a kid came up with a idea to have his parents buy $10s of thousands in crypto without them knowing.

His parents agreed to send him to college, and pay off student loans, and his dorm until he got his first degree in Quantum Engineering.(a degree that didn't exist at the college he was supposedly attending)

He sent a fake letter of acceptance with a fake number going to his second phone his parents had no clue about.

First the kid leased a one room apt in Stanford California before registering a business S corp titled Stanford One with a phone number registered in Standford. Shortly after, he sent the fake letter of acceptance to his home with the phone number. With information on tuition, and information that the school is covering half his tuition fees, and will refund his parents half when he completes his associates degree.

When his parents called the number for more info, he had a girlfriend answer the phone who was attending Stanford to give them all the info they needed.

His parents were comfortable and agreed to pay $18,000 up front to cover dorming, and $1400 a month for the next two years. Instead, their son took the $18,000, and moved to a girlfriend's house we're he paid no rent. He immediately used the $18,000 to buy Bitcoin September 2019 at about $8500ea, and lived off his parents $1400 a month for the next 2 years.

When Bitcoin went up to $60K he paid his parents back exactly half of what they dished out the last 2 years. $25,800.

This left Him with a total of about $100,000 in BTC where he then took out another $70,000 to place a $40,000 down payment on a small farm, home, and buy a new Truck in Oregon where he would then start a legal marijuana plantation while his parents continued to pay $1400 a month for his supposed college and dorming that would instead go to his mortgage payment, and daily needs such as food, and electric.

From that point on, he invited friends to visit from his home town in Washington state. Stupid him, he told his friends his parents helped him start it up and how cool they were. However, he never told his friends that he was lying to his parents. When his parents went out to eat a restaurant where one of his friends were waiting tables , he bragged about how cool of a parents they were for letting him start a marijuana farm and how he wishes his parents let him do something like that.

That's when they became suspicious. His father was Smart and asked to see some pictures. Sure enough, it was their son at his new home. They hired a private investigator to find out what happened. They found out everything he did.

They called their son and demanded he return every last dollar they gave him. When he declined they cut off his monthly payments and are now in a civil suit case to get all his cryptocurrency. About $25,000 worth now.

He will lose his cryptocurrency but luckily his parents are not charging him with anything to put him in jail.

Right now their son is bringing in $8500 a month in marijuana sales which he is already planning to buy back his crypto.

Lesson: just because your kids show they are smart with good grades doesn't mean they will turn out to be good people. But wow the balls on this kid.
