Are Altcoins worth investing in?

I joined the Crypto market in 2020 and bought some altcoins which I didn't sell during their ATH in 2021. I held on to those coins because I thought they would keep increasing,but contrary to my belief,they kept declining in price until I converted some of them to BTC. From my experience, I noticed that majority of Alts don't survive more than one bear market (I looked up some Alts that did well prior to 2021 bull run). I think at this juncture, investing in Alts is a risky move because you can end up losing your money even if you hold for more than 5 years.
