Are partnerships really worth anything besides the hype?

These days the "partnership hype" has worn down a bit, but most people will remember the days of "omg Microsoft has partnered with XXX token" and the price spikes happening in the aftermath of such announcements.

I've been looking around at these partnerships, to see if the claims had come to fruitition and besides adding the logos of said partners to their websites, I hardly see any effect of these partnerships on actual development and implementation progresses.

Oftentimes I'm left wondering if these big corporations are just in it for the free promotion of their brand name or products/services. I don't see any of these corporations actually taking much of a risk by associating with crypto projects.

Anyone actually know of a major corporation who implemented the cryptocurrencies proposed solution into their businesses?

Gamestop and Loopring is one of the partnerships that comes to mind, that turned out to be absolutely nothing but hype.
