Bank employee tried to keep €6000 to herself

Anecdotal experience that reinforces the belief in self custody and how shitty banks are.

Three years ago when my mother passed away we contacted the second bank she had an account with.

The employee of this bank (LaCaixa in Spain) checked her accounts and told us there were only a few hundred euros, purposedly omitting that she had a second acount with €6K.

When my father came back with bank extracts proving this second account existed and was omitted, this woman not only got incredibly aggressive, but next time we were supposed to meet her she canceled last minute saying she had a doctor’s appointment.

Another employee took care of giving us back the money.

Of course BTC has its own risks and pitfalls, but it won’t be a greedy banker who’s going to be keeping your money and be a bitch about it.
