a little abt me:
- a safe IT guy, 2FA is on everywhere, 2 antivirus on PC, at home for 2 yrs no friends to share wallet key with (not even wife knows my key), wallet only connected to Pancakeswap and has been for a year no problemo. in short, I'm more secure & paranoid than most.
How it happened:
- 1 hour after I connected to Ocean.finance, Iwas talking to my wife, suddenly phone TW notified me of a transfer, the hacker took all of my BNB worth $81, but he did not the rest alt-coins worth $160 at the time.
- I contacted Ocean.finance in their Tele, and the admin was perplexed and insisted the hack did not come from them (their web and PCS are the only ones on my wallet). I gave proof that I was not pished and It was settled that I went and connected to their legit page.
- I contacted Binance and gave the hacker's wallets and lastly showing to transfer to his/her Binance, since Binance is KYC, Binance asked me to make a police report and they will give the detail to the cops if they request. For that task alone, I would have to churn out at least $200 to make a report and ask them to contact the website. I demanded to know HOW I was hacked. I was asked to contact Binance.org.
- Binance.org took several days to get to, their captcha error most of the time. As though they are just lazy to talk to people, and it turned out to be right, Binance.org ping-ponged me to Binance.com.
- Back to Binance.com they again repeated to make a police report. Here I am just curious how I was hacked and how to prevent it without losing more money to make a report.
- I am in talks with Microsoft too since there are so many IMAP connecting attempts on my account from different countries and I have my wallet keys in OneNote. I believe IMAP hacking is a thing now since Microsoft's customer support literally gave up. They couldn't even escalate it anywhere. Mind you, all my accounts are 2FA. Since I changed the password, a week later the IMAP connect appear again on my account, this time from Sweden. I don't believe the hack is from Microsoft at all since they only took BNB, but not the more expensive coins.
Conclusion:
Is there anyone who can give me genuine advice or options that I should take?
I can blame anyone and they can all just defend themselves. But what I need is a solution on how to prevent this from happening again.
Meanwhile, I changed back to Metamask. No chance in hell I would use Trust Wallet or Binance Ext Wallet again with the hack and the lousy support from Binance.org.
