Bitcoin will have two billion users by 2030

The internet was invented in 1983 and bitcoin was invented in 2009. In terms of time if they grew at the same rate this is what the equivelant year would be.

1983 = 2009

1995 = 2021

1997 = 2023

2000 = 2026

2005 = 2031

2010 = 2036

In 1997 the internet had 70m users however today in 2023 bitcoin has 220m users and a total of 420m crypto users (but lets just focus on bitcoin). There are three times as many bitcoin users today as there were internet users in 1997. The internet didnt reach 200m users until 1999. This means bitcoins adoption rate is two years ahead of the internet.

In terms of time we are in the equivelant of 1997 but in terms of adoption we are in the equivelant of 1999. By 2005 the internet had one billion users and was considered ubiquitous and a mainstream part of peoples lives and by 2010 the internet had two billion users.

As we are already two years ahead of the internet timeline I am assuming by the 2005 equivelant we will be 3 years ahead and by the 2010 equivelant we will be 4 years ahead. At that adoption rate bitcoin will hit that one billion user milestone by 2028 instead of 2031 and that two billion user milestone by 2032 instead of 2036. This makes 2028 the equivelant of 2005 for the internet and 2032 the equivelant of 2010 for the internet.

The most disruption from the internet occured between 2000 and 2010 as internet companies devoured existing business models so according to this timeline the disruption era for bitcoin will happen between 2024 and 2032.

This means the disruption of financial institutions has not even begun yet and over the next eight years bitcoin user adoption will grow from 200m users to 2bn users.

We are just getting started. Right now we are in the equivelant internet era of slow dial up modems and by 2030 we will be in the eqivelant internet era of iphone apps wifi and 3G.

By 2030 two billion people will use bitcoin and lightning for all of their deposit, savings, global payments, transactions and international money flow needs.
