Bitolex scam

So, I want to write this here as a warning for other people. Maybe someone can tell me a better place to put this warning.

Let me explain the process of how it works

Discord message

I receive a discord message from a random user with a bunch of emojis (I removed them to make the txt easier to read)

We are a fast growing cryptocurrency exchange, which recently entered the European market. Our exchanger has been in existence for over 2 years and is known in the expanses of China. To attract new users, we did a free giveaway with 400 prizes worth almost 785 ETH.

The investor has entered into an agreement with discord to allow the use of discord as a platform for the distribution of P2P code prizes. Everything is official and completely legal. Our company works strictly under the contract in accordance with the law!

After activating a P2P code, the funds will be credited to your balance.

P2P code can be used once and for one account Creation of multi-accounts is forbidden, if multi-accounts are detected, all you accounts will be blocked

Ok, so let's review the checklist:

• Won a price for which I wasn't participating? Check
• Shady website with no reviews online or info about it? Check
• Unnecessarily informs me that this is official and legal? Check

Instead of disregarding it I decided to check how the system works.

The website

Once you enter to their website, it is a low quality dashboard template you can easily find online. It also has all the terms and condition stuff which they probably ripped from some other place.

I created an account and was surprised that I have to verify my email and I can also activate 2FA.

Then I added the code and ta-da, now I have 7.1 ethereum.

And here is the scam, when I tried to extract those ethereum I have the following message:

You can withdraw your funds only on external address, which is registered and verified with your account. To verify your (external) address with your account, you need to make a deposit from this address. Deposited amount will be added to your current balance amount and will be available for withdrawal at any time immediately.

Minimal amount of the deposit is 0.015 BTC or 0.2 ETH

So it's clear that you have to give them money so you can extract your own. And I assume that once you transfer it to them they'll just keep it.

Of course I didn't transfer to them, but I assume that's how it works.

So heads up everyone, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
