Bitwage or getting paid directly?

I don't understand why people would want to use bitwage. Receiving your salary in bitcoin, instead of dollars, then paying taxes on the dollar value of bitcoin at the moment you receive it. The only reason I see this being useful is when someone doesn't understand bitcoin, or taxes, and does not want to learn anything new. It is a great way to advertise your philosophical financial values, but functionally, in a dollar world, makes no sense.

If you are a contractor, or self employed, why not just get paid directly in btc to your wallet? Your tax obligations are different. You have more privacy and flexibility.

Finally, privacy is one of the values most bitcoin folks promote. With bitwage, you are advertising to your coworkers, your employer, and the government that you have bitcoin. The government stance on bitcoin is uncertain at the moment is that it is property. OK, but what about when someone changes that down the line? What happens when you are locked out of your btc accounts, the same way some can be locked out of bank accounts?

Bitcoin was created as an opposition to centralized banking and finance. Using bitwage to get paid in btc centralizes control back to those bitcoiners philosophically oppose.
