Career advice for a guy in mid 30s

I am sold on the idea that the future of finance is decentralized. I work in a bank's back office (in a poor country) and I feel I may not have a job 10 years from now

Don't have enough savings that I can put in Defi projects which might offer some hedge against my future (at the worst) job loss

I am an engineer and I can definitely learn a few skills, but not at the level of some of these GenZ people who will be much faster

What do you suggest?

Edit: majority of my experience is NOT in programming. Back office includes a lot of not-so-great roles
