Career advice for non software developers

Hey, I follow Blockchain technology for a long time now, especially Ethereum. I put a lot of faith in this technology, seeing it is a great possibility to resolve major problems of democratic societies in a creative and innovative way.

That's why I'd really like to work for a blockchain project. The problem is that I lack the technical background, many such job openings require (software development). At the moment I study a master in political science with a main emphasis in computational social sciences, so I do have a strong background in statistics, including machine learning, cognitive systems, social network analysis, managing complex technological systems, game theory, rational choice and agent-based modelling. Are there opportunities for someone like me to participate in developing blockchain technology? Really excited to hear your thoughts!
