CashApp started rolling out Lightning Network (BTC-LN) support this week

CashApp has started a pilot of send-to-BTC-LN support this week. The rollout is rather selective (I haven't gotten it yet), but it has been confirmed. If you get the roll-out, you will be presented with the following welcome message:

And if you attempt to send to a BTC-LN invoice without the update you will be presented with the following error

If you do get the update, the way to test it is as follows:

To pay a Lightning Invoice:

1. Tap the Bitcoin tab

2. Tap the icon in the top-left corner to open the QR scanner

3. Hold your camera over the Lightning Invoice QR code to scan it

4. Follow the prompts to confirm and pay the invoice

When you pay a lightning invoice, the funds will be instantly removed from your Bitcoin balance.

The Bitcoin lighting withdrawals feature is currently in pilot, so it's only available to a small portion of customers.
