For context, I'm in New York State. I’ve been a Coinbase customer for well over two years. I’ve been a Coinbase One subscriber since it was first offered over a year ago. I’ve used the same two bank accounts the entire time.
For the past 3 months Coinbase has restricted me from sending my Bitcoin to my hardware wallet. They claim they are doing it for my protection.
I contacted them back in July to complain and they assured me that I would be allowed to send it after September 19th.
So I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait it out. Then September 19th comes along and I still can’t send it.
I contact customer support and they’re giving me the run around. They wont even let me to speak to a supervisor or even tell me when I’ll be able to access it.
So now I’m getting major FTX vibes and decide to goin over to the Coinbase subreddit to see if anyone else is experiencing a similar situation.
Sure enough, every few posts is the same story. Restricted from sending crypto off exchange for security reasons. No explanation, no time frame for dropping restrictions.
Careful out their peeps. Coinbase might not actually have your crypto. I'm dropping Coinbase and moving to Gemini. At least Coinbase is allowing me to sell my Bitcoin and withdraw USD to my bank account.
