CoinMarketCap data breach - over 3 million email addresses have been leaked.

Seems like CMC has been breached and over 3 million email addresses stolen, so make sure to check haveibeenpwned.com to see if your email address was part of the breach.

My email was part of it, so I’m spending my Saturday changing passwords and email addresses. You should too if it was part of the leak.

Especially if you use that email for exchange accounts, you should remove it asap and use another one. Expect a lot of spam and crypto scam emails heading your way too.

The following statement has been given by CMC: “CoinMarketCap has become aware that batches of data have shown up online purporting to be a list of user accounts. While the data lists we have seen are only email addresses (no passwords), we have found a correlation with our subscriber base.”

This is also another reminder to never recycle passwords, especially when it comes to your crypto. My Reddit account was frozen yesterday as well because of “suspicious activity” and I was prompted to change my password to unfreeze it. If there is a correlation to my email being leaked or not, I cannot know, but especially with vaults on Reddit your accounts become increasingly valuable.
