DCA. But Better

Short Story

Just like others, I am trying to figure out how to make as much money as possible. I have tried many things, and many of them simply did not work for me. For example, I blew up my account by trading so many times that I decided never to touch leverage again.

I have also spent a lot of time flippening BTC, just after some exchanges introduced 0-fee spot trading. It was profitable, but the amount of stress I experienced and screen time was just too much.

So I decided to come up with a plan for the upcoming bull run and stick to it.

DCA. But better

I was looking at the BTC log chart and trying to figure out the best way to invest in it, so after many years, my portfolio would be big enough. One of the options was to simply DCA. I did multiple calculations on when and how to invest and came to the conclusion that it does not matter whether you DCA daily, weekly, or monthly; in the long run, you will end up with the same amount of BTC in your portfolio. This plan was good enough to help me reduce stress, but I knew it could be executed better.

After thinking for a day, writing scripts to calculate returns, charting, and so forth, I decided that my new plan is to DCA, sell, and buy back. Here is the explanation and patterns I have noticed:

The plan

1. The best time to deploy free capital into BTC is about 470 days before the halving.
2. After that, just DCA daily/weekly/monthly until it is time to sell.
3. The best time to sell is about 880 days before the following halving.
4. Rinse and repeat.

This way, I plan not only to increase my portfolio in bear/bull markets by DCA-ing, but also to multiply it by selling high enough and buying back at comfortable prices. The plan is to stick to exact numbers of days, not on FOMO and gut feeling.

This decision is based on previous cycles, and there is no guarantee the next one will be the same. It is not possible to predict the exact top and bottom, but the pattern I have found seems good enough.
