Decentralized Apps Can't Be "Closed", A Smart-Contract Can Be Called Even Without An User Interface

The latest news about KYC in decentralized apps called our attention to a problem, some people want to implement KYC/AML in every crypto platform to be able to track every move someome does on the blockchain.

Decentralized apps weren't made to be KYC compliant and like the name says they can't be controlled by anyone, once an immutable smart contract is deployed it can't be changed and will live forever on the blockchain. The very interest of Defi apps is to make decentralized and simple exchanges, not allowing a Human Being to interfere in the process.

Normally the UI (User Interface) of a Defi app isn't decentralized and it can be shut down, leaving users unable to access the Defi app. But there's where the shut down stops. The contracts can't be shutted down and with some knowledge everyone can access and perform actions in a smart-contract, because everyone can access it without an User Interface. This isn't easy for the average user to do but with some investigation, it can be done. Every smart-contract can be called from the blockchain without having to access the normal URL of the Defi app.

This means that banning some websites can make it difficult to access some apps, but doesn't make it impossible to do so. If a shut down happens the user has always the ability to access whatever they have locked in a smart-contract.

It's not as easy as it seems to kill decentralized applications and that ability to survive is what makes them very valuable, if this wasn't the case Dapps wouldn't exist at all.
