Desperate appeal to knowledgeable folk. (A lost funds sob story) + bounty

Hi guys,

I made the foolish amateur mistake of depositing Matic to an ERC-20 deposit address on Kraken, it seems this is a rather common mistake. Now my understanding of the situation is that if this deposit address had been associated with a typical (externally owned account) you could export the private keys associated to this address into a Polygon Network wallet in order to recover the funds. However, Kraken's deposit addresses are generated using smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Addresses generated this way don’t have private keys associated to them, therefore there is no private key to export.

So my question to those who's understanding is far greater than mine, are my funds truly lost forever? In a world where time & money were no object is there a clever work around that could be developed to access these funds, a modification to the underlying smart contract? I appreciate I'm clutching at straws but it seems this is a very common mistake and it just feels like there should be a work around Kraken could implement but perhaps that's the desperation talking.

Anyway, If anyone manages to help me recover the funds there's 500 MATIC or the equivalent in ETH or other crypto of your choice in it as a bounty.
