Ebay is looking into ways to get non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on its platform and is open to accepting cryptocurrency as a means of payment in the future, the company said on Monday.
A increasing number of businesses are accepting virtual currencies as a means of payment, bringing an asset class that was previously shunned by major financial institutions one step closer to general acceptance.In an interview with CNBC, Chief Executive Officer Jamie Iannone stated the company was considering adopting virtual money.Ebay, which last week disappointed investors with a dismal second-quarter earnings projection, said it was considering a several of options for entering the NFT industry.
