Etherifying this adventure game

Howdy, would like to bounce around this hiking and adventure app idea I thought of. I'm a grad student at UCLA and I love building apps in my free time.

Background:

I grew up in a family that was always mountaineering, and I was struck as a child by the summit books we encountered on our trips. At the top of large mountains, there is often a book or a log inside of a weatherproof box that adventurers can write in, describing their journey, or read from, peering into the past. These books can be decades or even centuries old, containing names, wisdom, jokes, and even poetry from those who ventured there before. Each hiker that reaches the summit book gets to leave their mark by adding something to one of its pages.

As a child, a driving motivation during grueling hikes was my desire to get to the summit book so I could flip to the beginning of the book and read through the writings of hikers from decades before. When it was my turn to add to the book, I always enjoyed the idea of telling a compelling story for someone 100 years from now to read and feel inspired by.

Additionally, I was always obsessed with the idea of measuring someone's “adventurousness”. On Instagram, this can be achieved only poorly, by digging through someone's posts and piecing together their different travels. I always thought it would be cool to see all the exotic places someone has reached on earth in one place and even an “adventurousness” score.

Idea:

What if the world was split up into 500 by 500 meter squares. Each square would be worth a certain amount of points based on how difficult the corresponding location on Earth was to reach. Hikers could build their adventurousness score by claiming land and absorbing the land’s points. You would finally be able to measure someone's adventurousness by looking at their profile. You can see how you rank by looking at the leaderboards and where you stand in your social circle. In addition, if you have claimed a square, the summit book principle follows, you can leave anything behind and customize the squares appearance on the map for all to see.

Questions:

How can we gamify adventure in the app in such a way that requires weekly or daily engagement?

How can we add value to this concept with web3?
