FIL About to be Scammed

My father in law was just approached by a friend that said he's made $4M on $20k but this it even started like a typical scam 1. Someone text the wrong number 2. They promise up to 3% return a day on investments over $20k 3. Money must stay in for 1 year (less the time frame more not having access. 4. They gave him back his initial $20k to prove "the money was real" when he brought in friends to potentially invest 5. If they have that kind of money why wouldn't they buy elitestandard.com

Whole thing seems shady to me and reminds me of the Defi staking 2000% daily return bubble burst.

Thoughts or has anybody been scammed by the site/company in the past?
