“Financial Freedom” And what does this mean to you?

I’m 31 years old and have been thinking of achieving financial freedom for about 6 years now. Cryptocurrency is one of the ways I hope to achieve this. I’ve had multiple discussions with friends, family and co-workers over the years and for me it comes down to this:

First of all I want to save enough money to be able to build a modest self sufficient bungalow. I’d grow my own fruit and vegetables and have a few chickens for fresh eggs in the morning. I don’t want to own a supercar (even though Lambo’s are kick ass!), I would go for a car that will take me from a to b and is reliable. Nothing too fancy anyway. I would like to be able to quit my job and still be able to pay all my bills, like health insurance, internet etc.

With the free time I would then have, I would spend a lot of time in the garden, get a few dogs and go for long walks on the daily. Enjoy the sunrise and sundown more often. Learn new languages and read more books. Volunteer at an animal shelter and cook for the homeless in the evening. Pick up new hobbies like climbing and graffiti art. Go on a holiday 1-2 times a year, also nothing to fancy. I’ll find a good deal on Air BnB and fly with Ryanair no problem. And of course I want to spend a lot of time with my lovely lady and future kid(s).

Just a relatively quiet and modest life and I would be more than happy. (I understand that this is already huuuge for a lot of people in poorer countries)

When I tell people how I want to quit working by the maximum age of 50, especially co-workers will react and say ‘I don’t know what I’d do without work’. I kind of feel sorry for them, but then again if that makes them happy who am I to judge. For me there is just so much more to life than work.
