Long story, so here's the TLDR: I had a self-directed Roth IRA that held bitcoin as an asset. I took self-custody of the bitcoin (NYKNYC), and that opened a whole can of worms concerning the IRA, the custodian, the exchange, taxes, and the IRS.
My accountant couldn't help me, so he referred me to another accountant who couldn't help me, who referred me to a lawyer, who...couldn't help me. So I asked my Estate attorney for a referral. He referred me to a lawyer who also couldn't help me, but that one referred me to attorney Ari Good in Miami.
Ari Good is a superstar when it comes to crypto, taxes, and retirement accounts. He has a deep working knowledge of crypto and all of its nuances, unlike most attorneys. Ari worked tirelessly to unravel the mess I caused, and the end result was exactly what I'd hoped it would be. Everything came out to my advantage.
I highly recommend Mr Good if anyone needs an attorney regarding cryptocurrencies. In additon, his fees were more than reasonable, and he has a great sense of humor. I am grateful that I found him. Definitely 5 Stars.
