I was always convinced that the energy use of the current system dwarfs that of BTC when talking in terms of life cycle, as you need to:
- source the material
- print the cash
- safely transport it
- safely store it
- etc.
All these are energy intensive.. until I was told that nowadays that's not how it works. Money are printed digitally only with the click of a mouse. The physical amount is a tiny percentage of that. On the other hand, 'extending the BTC network to cover the same market cap would require a massive amount of computational power.'
What do you think?
