I know I'm going to look like I'm levying accusations but I'm really confident I lost funds due to a bug.
I used Metamask and clicked the copy feature to copy my address that I wanted to send funds to. Then I opened the Coinbase wallet and pasted that Metamask address in (to clarify I went straight from copying my MM address right over to CB wallet). I confirmed the transaction, the screen loaded and then said there was an error. When I view the transaction hash, the funds were sent to the Dai contract.
I never copied or saw that Dai contract address on any of my screens. There was no place for me to even copy it, ever. Yet after pasting in my Metamask address, that contract address was somehow inserted instead and I saw an error message. Now all my funds are lost to the Ether and sent to a contract instead of my wallet.
Has this ever happened to anyone? Am I completely delusional? Does the Metamask 'address copied' modal ever appear as a false positive?
