Help with cold storage?

First of all, I hope my ignorance on the topic doesn't make my questions too frustrating.

That said, I've been reading through various posts in the sub trying to further educate myself on crypto, but have a lot left to learn. Right now I have some crypto in uphold and would like to move it into a wallet. Ledger is the only one I know anything about currently.

Is uphold trustworthy? Is Ledger trustworthy? Do you recommend using a physical crypto wallet at all? If so, Ledger, or another?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
