A lot of people are into crypto for the trading and making money, but for me, that was never why I used cryptocurrencies yet. Instead, I had some other uses for it.
I live in a Third World country, and since 2020 there was a banks crisis, (and now hyperinflation) and I couldn't use a debit card anymore for purchases. My brother introduced me to crypto (and gave me a bit of BTC) after he started freelance programming for cryptos, because he couldn't get paid with FIAT internationally.
Some ways I made crypto were (I can't simply buy due to banks, and KYC) :
- Swapping gift cards to crypto (there are multiple sites for this).
- Selling extra steam game keys I had from bundle games for crypto.
- There are FIAT to crypto traders in the country, but I never went there.
This let me be able to buy online without needing reliance on banks. For example, I researched and made a list of all sites that sell steam game keys for crypto, and that was the only way I was able to buy some games, and sell extra bundle keys for more crypto.
I never traded in crypto because I don't think I have the skill to profit more than I'd lose, but if anyone has tips it would be appreciated, as I might dabble with it.
What are ways you used crypto for cases other than trading?
