How to use lightning network the right way?

I’m trying to figure out this lightning network thing but information is all over the place. It can get really nerdy and complicated quickly. Let’s say I wanna carry a small quantity of BTC on my phone for small payments via lightning network. What’s the right way to do it considering all my BTCs are out of the exchange in cold storage? I’m thinking about Blue Wallet, when first installed it gives me a link and a QR code instead of a back up seed. Normally with a BTC wallet this should be generated offline, and handwritten…. there is also a LNDHub option that I could not find a good explanation to what it is. Also see people talking about running a full node for privacy, and again things get complicated. As I said, what’s a simple safe way to use BTC on the lightning network?

Thank you.
