I gave away The Bitcoin Standard to a friend of my cousin...

He was visiting her from Colorado and my cousin asked if she could bring him back from the airport and asked her for a ride. I said of course he can come over. It's Christmas.

He had a degree in Finance and just quit his job as a journeyman electrician, a path he chose after college. He said his phone never stopped going off. It was one crisis after another.

He was living in Denver in what he described as a dystopic, one bedroom apartment with one window. He was telling me how impossible it was trying to get ahead economically, the cost of living was being inflated away and out of reach for normal people like him.

He had a brother with 11 acres 2 hours south of Denver that he built a primitive shelter on and he would overnight there. It was like a private park to him. He even bought a nearby house that had burned down for $20K that he was demolishing himself. He said he just wanted his own shelter and a lawn. He is 49 now and felt an urgency to finally have a place and find comfort.

I mentioned how everyone always says prices are going up, but never ask why their dollar is so weak because it takes more of them to buy a home. He said 'Don't even get me started I could go on for hours!' and mentioned he was reading a book by Ron Paul.

I told him that he should consider buying bitcoin. He said he bought some at 47k then sold it at 55k. I said the key is this. Never sell. I mentioned I threw everything I had at it in 2017 and have been through the wild swings hanging on and never selling and ultimately, that's the only path. I told him to DCA over time and wait as hard as that is. I mentioned that soon with the new administration I expect mass adoption and financialization / collateralization.

I asked if they ever taught him in college 'what money is'? He said he didn't think so.

We treated him to some holiday food and a little bourbon. Before he left I asked if he read books. He said yes. I went on my book case and grabbed my old copy of The Bitcoin Standard and gave it to him. I said 'Keep it and come back next year.' He thanked me and they all left together.

Just a small holiday gesture to pass things forward.
