I was recently laid off (part of the big layoffs that have been happening everywhere). Part of my paycheck had been going into a 401k and Roth, and thankfully, my previous company had a small match. So half of my 401k was money I input, and half was from the company I worked for.
After thinking about it for a day or two, I realized all that matching was free money, and now that I donβt have a job, money is tight. And even if I emptied my 401k, sure, some gets taxed, though I walk away with more than if I was being taxed regularly.
So, Iβve taken it all out and what was my initial contribution is going into bitcoin, whereas the money my company matched is staying in my bank for expenses.
This is not the route for everyone, though Iβm comfortable doing it.
