I was arrested in Iran during the protests back in September and just got out of prison a while back and Moons practically saved my life today

Hello fellow redditors.

I've always been a crypto enjoyer and it has unique applications in countries like Iran, where due to sanctions we are disconnected from world banking and finance, but crypto works here like anywhere else. I made a reddit post about all of this two years ago here. Sanctions sometimes cause a hurdle with exchanges, but that's why you have VPNs and local exchanges.

Back when Mahsa Amini protests happened in Iran, I participated and I was arrested and imprisoned for 6 months. My assets in the bank was seized and I lost my job. It took my family a lot of money and effort to get me out, as 6 months is the minimum sentence and that's what I ended up getting, thanks to my family's efforts.

Long story short, I randomly saw the price of moons was skyrocketing and after 3 years of hodling, I caved and sold today. I have no regrets, because it is more money that I would earn in 2 years by working under current rates (due to how crappy how own currency is), and I needed the money now. I can't stress how absolutely revolutionary this money is for me right now especially after losing my money in the bank and my job, and my family paying to get me out asap.

Apart from needing the money, I feel somewhat cathartic about this. The mighty Iranian government seized my assets and took my job, but they could not take my moons, a cryptocurrency tied to my favorite community on reddit. In hindsight I could have kept some moons, but I am in a really bad place right now, so I just "sold all" because every penny helps atm. Words cannot express how grateful I am for being part of this community right now.
