I'm just trying to unwrap wETH in the Polygon chain to ETH in the main chain. Fees for doing so are very high. Am I doing something wrong? Because people have been blasting north and south that chains like Polygon are the future of ETH because of its lower fees etc., but it doesn't seem like it: The value above is the "site suggested" option. When clicking there, other options appear, but neither are cheap: I could of course click in "Advanced" and set my own fee, but probably the transaction would be stuck for a while. When checking the GWEI Gas Tracker, it states the cost of some actions:
In my understanding this has to do with ETH's chain, not Polygon's, right? One would then have to be forever stuck with the latter (or other side chains/L2s) and avoid touching ETH in order to have lower fees. So far it sounds like a bug, and not a feature. If this is the future, I can't afford it. [link] [comments] |
