Reddit's IPO takes place soon, with changes in their coin system being announced this week. It's likely that the current team will be the majoritarian stakeholders, as it is the case with every IPO.
What do you expect in terms of crypto?
I was considering the following pro/cons about the subject but still feel unsure:
Pros
RCPs increased the activity in their subs. Even if it's partially low quality content, having more people engaged in the website is what every social media folks want
More engagement means more advertising, which means more revenue
The change in ToS allowed RCPs to be listed, which attracted more attention to Reddit (thus more revenue)
Reddit is the first big social media comoany to successfully implement blockchain in its product, so it would be weird for them to toss it away
Cons:
General public still doesn't care about crypto
Having a high percentage of stakeholders that are against crypto might slow/change the current policies
It's unclear if Reddit Gold will be a crypto or not. If so, how will RCPs be treated?
Apparently, current RCPs have a function that allows Reddit to kill them. Can anyone confirm this?
All things put, I'm not sure on what to expect. What are your bets?
