Is a cold storage wallet the place to keep my coins at?

Yes cold storage is best.

It sounds like an intimidating experience to setup your key phrase etc but it really is fairly simple. I was very anxious however the ledger live is easy to understand and navigate.

Always make sure your currency is correct when selecting an address ( BTC LTC etc) always confirm and verify. It's pretty simple once you do a few transfer.

Always make a small test transfer to confirm you have the right address etc.

The key phrase is the most important as well as your pass phrase. Make sure to store those safely and securely and make at least two copies. Store separate etc.
