Split 24 word seed phrase into two, first 12 go on steel plate in safe deposit box controlled by me, last 12 go on steel plate to a trusted family member.
In the event of your death, your will can instruct the bank to give the box to your family member. The chances of these parties conspiring against you before your death is much lower than giving the whole backup to a single family member or splitting it between family/friends. This also prevents your seed from being stored contiguously in any one place.
I'm also considering a more accessible backup for myself - first 12 words on steel in home + last 12 stored digitally in an obfuscated format. Useful in case I want to set up a new hardware wallet without going to bank & family. Would be difficult for an attacker to obtain both physical & digital.
Any holes in my plan or better strategies I'm not considering?
