It's Not a Short-Term Game

If BTC or ETH or whatever other project you're worried about isn't blowing up in the immediate, short-term. Let it go, chief. It's going to be OK, especially if you're playing around with money you don't mind sitting on or losing. Seeds take time to germinate, let alone develop into full-fledged crops. And I know everyone says, "time in the market, not timing the market" every damn day, but there's truth to the cliche, fam.

Crypto is changing the way we money. Finance has fundamentally evolved because of BTC and ETH and others. The long-term outlook of those changes is something to be hopeful about. Does that maybe mean a dip or two or three or a ton of them along the way, or one big ass crab market from now until 2030? Maybe! For me, it doesn't matter. I'll be enjoying the fruits of this labor when we get there. Even if you managed to somehow buy the peak of the S&P 500 every year for multiple decades, you'd still be ahead long term.

Take a walk down memory lane for a second:

If you had bought into the S&P 500 back in 1972, just before the crash, and subsequently invested again just before every other major crash (essentially buying every peak of the market since the 70s) you'd still be up by a longshot.

In fact, you'd be a millionaire. Your investments would be worth roughly $1.1 million dollars.

OK, but a) this is crypto, not stocks, and b) nobody wants to wrestle with the what if, as in "WHAT IF I'D JUST YOLO'D INTO THE S&P BACK IN 1972." Also, I'm not even that old, OP, so why is this relevant?

That's a fair point, but I point this out because

1. Cryptocurrencies are still a very young asset class/investment vehicle/however you want to categorize them. Yes, some of them won't survive long term, like many companies from 1972 to today. But many will long term.
2. Every day this sub is filled with doubt, speculation, fear, and a whole lot of hopium about the short term. And that's fine, it might get you some MOON and get your blood pressure going for the next few days/weeks/months. But waiting is, frankly, pretty boring, and that's just the way it is. The dirty work under the soil just takes time. And sometimes, as in the case of the scenario above, it takes a LOT of time. It took decades. So settle down. Enjoy the long trip.

TL;DR: Hang tight. If you bought the peak. It's all gravy. Today's (and tomorrow's) price is a blip on the radar. Zoom out in a decade. . . or two
