Keep seeing people talking about hold time and when to sell long term, but you’re forgetting a big piece of the equation.

Bitcoin has evolved into this store of value label and has sort of lost its identity as a currency. I have a friend who is a higher up at a payment processing company. Currently the company has about 70% market share of payment processing in North America. So 70% of the time you purchase something in North America, this company is involved with the point of sale. Their market share is about 35% worldwide and are the #2 in the world for payment processing.

This company is currently working on a product where you will be able to instantly purchase anything with Bitcoin. The product is about 2 years away. If you buy a beer at a bar, you can use bitcoin instantaneously. The product will do all conversions for you and the seller, it will be just like swiping your debt or credit card. The payment will be instantaneous and final. The payment product will work world wide in any currency wherever the point of sale is using this company’s products. The seller can take cash just like a credit/debit card, they don’t have to take bitcoin. The important part of this that you need to think about, is this isn’t a start up company trying to do this. This is the number #2 payment processing company in the world. So they are creating the software and applications to integrate into what is already at 35% of the world’s selling establishments. There’s no door to door sales about a new payment system. It’s simply upgrading what is already there.

So here’s the question, if in 10 years Bitcoin is worth $1M USD, why would you ever sell for fiat if you can use it just like your debit card? I definitely think that this is where this is all headed. It’s not digit gold. I can’t use my gold to make instantaneous purchase of anything.
