L2 protocols finally seem to be gaining traction, which is good news for Ethereum.

At this point, it would seem plausible to conclude that Ethereum has successfully used network effects and the first mover advantage in the field of smart contract technology and that it should now be trying to expand on this, a stage that Layer 2s can enable.

Which one do you employ?

I'm used to Metis, a scaling solution that also seeks to enhance the DAO idea by making it into something more serious through what it refers to as a DAC.

The Ethereum network, which has the most developer activity and is the only cryptocurrency that is not obscure to those who are not active in crypto, may continue to be at the center of web3 as it develops.

As a sign of Ethereum's trustworthy reputation, I'd say that ETH is the only cryptocurrency except for Bitcoin which can be seen as a somewhat conservative digital asset to own over the long run.

Although Ethereum is currently dominant and should remain so, it would be wrong to claim that there is no potential for any rival Layer 1s. A direct competitor to Ethereum that offers identical functionalities without the gas cost and scaling issues is referred to as Alternative Layer 1.
