I don’t own a metal backup but I would suggest…
I would copy a set to paper, cut it into two sections. For the first section, I would bring it hidden inside stacks of paper (or a book) as carry-on baggage. For the second section, I would hide it inside an empty container somewhere in my check-in baggage.
As for the metal backup, you would dismantle it. After reaching your destination, you can re-assemble your metal backup seed again.
In case if are robbed along the way, I would suggest keeping a backup in your home country (split them and store them in two different places or give to two different friends), or otherwise split them into 2 sections and send one by postal mail and the other by international courier to your new country.
