moving from paper wallet to hardware wallet, by transmitting a signed transaction from a full node

suppose i had a paper wallet , a full node and a hardware wallet.

I make an address with the hardware wallet offline.

I then craft a transaction to sweep funds to the new address and then sign it with the source private key (somehow)

I transmit the transaction using my running bitcoin node, and have not exposed my private key to the internet.

Before i spend time in research, is this even feasible? AFAIK the major issue is crafting the singed transaction.
