Nissan, a Japanese automotive brand, has made several developments in its brands over the years. It also aims to change the narratives of automobiles in the coming years. To embrace the future of technology and commerce, Nissan has filed four new web3 trademarks and is set to carry out trial sales in the metaverse.

The Japanese automaker has recognized the immense potential of blockchain technology and the metaverse in shaping the future of business. As such, Nissan has taken a proactive approach to stay ahead of the game.

Nissan Files New Web3 Trademarks

The company filed multiple trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on March 7. It disclosed that the pilot program would collaborate with Decentraland, a virtual environment that facilitates buying, selling, and building on virtual land amongst users.

The virtual sales will primarily include tickets, cars, clothes, headgear, toys, trading cards, and an NFT marketplace where NFT sales and minting can occur. Based on the company’s application, this filing will cover some brands, including Nismo, Nissan, and Infiniti.

In line with these developments, Nissan is also set to perform trial sales in the metaverse. The company has recognized the potential for virtual transactions in the metaverse.

It plans to launch an experimental program allowing customers to access different services, including artwork, images, online video, sounds, audio, trading cards, and music. Added to these services is a website that provides information on the company’s non-fungible tokens and their working process.

The firm also revealed plans to create a digital wallet that will come as non-downloadable computer software for its users.

This move by Nissan depicts the growing adoption of blockchain technology and the metaverse. It also shows that established companies are noticing these technologies and adapting to remain competitive.

The pilot program is expected to launch later this year, and Nissan is optimistic about the potential for virtual product sales in the metaverse. If successful, this could pave the way for other companies to follow suit and signal a significant shift in business operations.

Other Cases Of NFT Filings

Nissan isn’t the only automotive company dealing with NFT-related filings. There have been other nonfungible token applications of automotive firms such as General Motors and Ford Motor Company.

General Motors, an automotive giant, has made some NFT filings long before now. On February 16, the firm filed its latest Cadillac and Chevrolet trademark filings.

On the other hand, Ford Motor Company has been engaged in NFT and metaverse transactions. On September 2, 2022, the company made its trademark application for 19 of its major brands, including Ford, Raptor, Mustang, Maverick, Ranger, etc.

As this trend continues attracting several other automotive firms into the system, more crypto users may emerge. Even though the crypto market showed massive price losses last week, these adoptions could help to push its reach with time.Β
