Old Bitcoin Story

My dad told me this story around 2017, when Bitcoin was popping up in the news late Fall.

A long time ago (2010-2011) or something, my dad was in a meeting and their bosses explained that there is a potential change in their pay by volunteer.

The "cents" in their paycheck would be distrusted as bitcoins and stored in a savings/wallet. Basically, if your paycheck was ($202.55), then you can have ($0.55) turned into Bitcoin stored away and your Paycheck is USD ($202.00)... The second option was by Percentage, so like 1% of your paycheck is crypto stored away.. My dad said there was more to it, but he didnt remember since it wasnt something he was interested in

Upon request they can have it distributed back to them at any time after 1 year or so.

Back to the Present (2017) when I heard the story I was freaking out, I knew about Crypto but never pulled the trigger, so I thought perhaps my dad did without realizing it. Sadly, he said no and from the hundred or so workers, perhaps only 10 decided to accept the new pay distribution. I asked my dad what happened to them and did they withdraw their Bitcoin?!

He said most of them retired 1 year ago (which would be 2016), they were all either millionaires or close. My dad was only acquaintances of them and not really close. But he said from the guy he knows best, that guy pulled out a little more than 50% back in 2013, and used it to buy a truck. Then the last 10% he pulled out in 2016 which he bought a retirement house with acres of property.

So, I have dozens of missed opportunities in my life involving crypto, I never would have expected my dad to have one as well.

My main takeaway is how important it is for normal people to understand Crypto and how simple adoption needs to be for them. If people were allowed to fill out information like how they fill out (direct deposit paperwork) for work, then you would see a massive spike in adoption. I do think Crypt in general is inevitable to take over, there are already big players in the world making the plays, while I'm just a simple man. But I just wanted to highlight one simple story from years ago that was true.
