I’m not really sure where else to post this, but I have been wanting to share this story.
In 2012, I was a freshman in High School. In one of my classes, there was a guy (who was a junior at the time) and he sat next to me & a few of my friends. He was always talking about Bitcoin. I remember one day, he shared that he had just accumulated 100 Bitcoin. He was an interesting guy… very funny, class clown - but also a little odd. He would steal calculators from classrooms & sell them on eBay (lol). He also sold pot. He would always talk about how he had invested all of his money into Bitcoin. At the time, I was 15 & had never even heard of Bitcoin. I remember we would even mock him because he was ALWAYS talking about it. Every single day.
After the school year, he passed away in the summer of 2013. Local police had sent an informer to buy drugs and he died from excessive force. I attended his funeral, and after I contacted his family to let him know of his Bitcoin situation. They said they were unable to find out how to access his account. To this day, they still have not been able to access.
10+ years later and I still think about this frequently. I just can’t stop thinking that if he were still alive today, he would easily have been a multi-millonaire. It’s also a shame his family can’t gain access to his assets.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
