Hey guys,
Been out of touch with this side of crypto for a while and just catching up. I did a swap in metamask using its built-in swap to change USDT to ETH. I didnt lose any money, nothing bad happened and all went as usual. When i look on etherscan, it says that during the swap the USDT was sent to a MEV bot who converted it to wETH who then sent me back the right amount of eth.
Everything I read on these MEV bots is bad, but what happened during my trade? all in all everything is fine on my end, just confused by the mevbot being involved, considering it took nothing.
The way it shows in the transaction was as follows
from "my wallet" to "mev bot 1" for 1500 usdt
from "mev bot 1" to "mev bot 2" for 1500 usdt
from "mev bot 2" to mev bot 1" for 0.478 wETH
from "mev bot 1" to "my wallet" for 0.478 ETH (not wETH)
I then sent my eth off to where I was moving it.
My main question is, does metamask use a mev bot to swap tokens?
Sorry if this is a stupid post, just trying to learn more about these mev bots and what is happening.
