Hey guys!
I am relatively new to btc, And to do my part, I setup a full node using Umbrel software. There has been ever increasing institutional interest in btc, and as of late certain players (looking at you, Greenpeace) have established entire departments dedicated to a campaign to rally support for a btc switch from POW to POS.
I took some comfort initially with the axiom that I, as a node operator, would be able to easily resist hard forks if they arose in the Bitcoin code. However, when I toggled through the user interface on Umbrel, I did not locate an immediately obvious way of reverting software to previous iterations. As mentioned, I am still new in this space, but I do find this moderately alarming. Please respond to my questions, below, under the assumption that a hard fork update (POW -> POS) was initiated in the software code:
In the event of a hard fork, would my btc node automatically update with the new software, or would a popup window request user permission first?
If my node automatically updates, how would I revert back to the previous version of the code (the one that runs POW)?
Many thanks in advance!
