Quick safety tips to keep your assets secured

Disclaimer: I am no crypto safety expert and this post is aimed at people newer to crypto who may not know this.

Cryptocurrencies are one of the coolest(subjectively) technologies coming out but a huge caveat to them is that they can easily be scammed out of you if you are not careful. This is because it is a new technology and not many people have fully grasped this concept. Here are a few steps to keep your assets safe.

1. Please, please, please use a hardware wallet Invest in a hardware wallet. These devices will keep your cryptocurrency safe by keeping it offline, away from hackers. You can put crypto in a hardware wallet and not have to worry about someone being able to hack into your devices and steal your crypto.

2. Beware of phishing attempts Since this technology is so new, many people try and fish your keys or get you to pay them crypto for something. Please be aware of this and remember, no one needs to know your keys so if anyone asks that, red flags better be raised in your head.

3. Longer and unique passwords are your friend If your passwords are something simple like Password123, a hacker could gain access to your devices and get your cryptocurrency. Please keep your passwords unique and long or just use a password manager and generate random strings of letters, numbers and special characters.

4. Keep your software up to date Keep your devices, wallets, and antivirus software up to date. Many hacks try and target different wallets so that they can steal your assets and you don’t want that.

5. 2FA can be a pain, but it’s worth it 2FA may seem frustrating but it’s worth it, especially on more important things like exchanges. If someone was able to brute force your password, they could easily log into your account if 2FA is turned off.
