Request of the VP of Ukraine to block the accounts of Russian citizens on centralized exchanges is something I highly disagree with.

Donating cryptocurrencies to Ukraine is a great move and I fully support it in the hope that as many people as possible will donate money to help Ukraine - if anyone wants to, here is the official tweet of the Ukrainian government with the addresses for the donation.

It is not easy to talk about this topic due to the circumstances that are happening in Ukraine, and I wish peace to that wonderful people as soon as possible.

I do not want to be misunderstood, I understand that it is very difficult for Ukraine and its people at the moment and I support that whoever can help them should help.

However, although I support donations and all the help they deserve, I am definitely against blocking the accounts of Russian citizens on centralized exchanges.

Centralized exchanges, by their very name, are manageable - private companies with the right to make decisions and choose.

However, the point of cryptocurrency is decentralization and providing access to all individuals regardless of their race, gender, nationality, etc.

In the same Russia, there is a good part of the people who are certainly against what their government is doing, yet they cannot do much about it and it should not make things difficult for them.

I also think that blocking/freezing accounts could be very bad for the future of cryptocurrencies as a whole - it is possible that we will need these "services" again in the future, so we as a community should be careful not to ruin the trust in cryptocurrencies that have been built over the years.
