Spoke to my taxi driver about crypto, does that mean it's too late?

Last week I took a taxi back to work after a meeting. I work in real estate and the driver asked me how the market is right now.

I told him the market is in an absolutely terrible state right now because of rising interest rates and inflation among other things.

He jokingly asked "So this is a good time to put your money in Bitcoin?". I told him "Well, yes, why not? It's at a great price." and we started talking about crypto. I am no expert but I read this sub on the daily and try to stay up to date with what's happening in the crypto space.

Turns out this guy had thrown some money on ETH without really knowing what it is or why. He just heard about it and figured "Why not?". I asked him why he didn't buy bitcoin and his argument was simply "ETH seems like the underdog and I like betting on the underdog". Fair enough. He also said that bitcoin seems so expensive and last he checked they went for around 50 000 $.

This discussion gave me a lot of perspective. There are many people out there investing in crypto cause they heard of it. No clue what it is or what it can be used for. They don't stay up to date at all, but are still in the game. After a 15 minute ride and some casual crypto talk he felt more positive towards crypto just from gaining a bit more insight and said he would probably look in to buying a bit more. I also recommended him to come to this sub, because I sure learned a lot from being here.

I took it as a good sign of crypto spread, but also realized how little the general public actually knows about crypto. By being active in a crypto to community, even if you are pretty new in the space, you are way ahead of a lot of people. All in all, a great interaction that I wanted to share. It's not too late, we are early.
