You hear often on this subreddit that talking to family & friends about crypto is a bad idea. Here's an scenario where it stopped a scam from happening.
My friend's mother asked me a question when I was over visiting. She had mentioned that an advertisement on marketplace caught her eye and she ended up checking it and and talking to some guy.
Long story short, she was asking me if this was the same thing as this bitcoin I was investing in (lol). She showed me her chats and the person on the other end had already helped her set up a metamask wallet and was halfway through getting verified on kraken.
Hate to see what this could have been had she not asked me what my opinion was, since I "knew ao much about crypto".
