Suddenly finding out your $6000 in BTC and ETH got stolen a month ago is really something.

Please be careful. Obviously I fucked up somewhere by exposing my private key. I didn't know it was possible to transfer things out of my Ledger wallet without actually interacting with the device. But maybe ya'll will learn that now as well. I consider myself relatively well versed in the interwebs and security of things on there. Clearly I'm not well versed enough.

EDIT: apparently I gave the impression I have exposed my seed. Sorry, what I meant is that that is the only thing I can think off. But I'm 99% sure I wrote them down, put them in a box and left them there.

EDIT 2: I bought it directly from Ledger and no I didn't use the standard seed phrase. Generated one myself.

Cautionary tale

I was talking with a friend about him getting a Ledger and I wanted to check for him if his apps were available on the Ledger Live app. So be me, open up Ledger live and suddenly see a low amount of fiat value.

So I browse my assets, October 8th, all my BTC and ETH (apart from 0,001 ETH, thanks for leaving that one). Gone. Like that. Poof, transferred to a wallet with 23 BTC in transactions who then transferred it to a wallet with 177k BTC in transaction. Laundering if you ask me. I have NO idea how this happened. My private key was always written down on a paper somewhere. Held in the same box as my Ledger stick.

Nobody literate enough (or they've been acting for years) could have come close to my wallet or even knew I had a Ledger wallet. Pretty sure it hadn't moved since where I put it either.

Insane. Time to throw this paper out and start from fresh. I'm lucky this was "only" a small part of my wealth. But as someone that wants to move out, this obviously doesn't help.
