The Uncertainty Principle and Decentralization

I keep seeing people ask what's next after Shapella. Besides the current protocol state, how can we possibly know "what's next" for a decentralized network, especially when such an event is so far in the future? To me events like these upgrades imply the existence of, metaphorically speaking, a 'core' or very dense 'center of mass' to the network.

In physics there's a principle used to describe the fundamental unpredictability of reality, i.e. The Uncertainty Principle. In a philosophical sense, it's a mathematical way of saying there is no conceivable means of being in control of the universe, because any controller comes from the universe and is therefore bound by it.

Put simply, the more information you have about where any particle in the universe going, the less info you have about its location, and conversely the more you know about location, the less you know about where it's going. In other words, the universe cannot be said to be 'centralized', because IF we could lock in both pieces of information about the universe at ANY point in space or time, THEN we could predict the future with increasing certainty. This is ruled impossible (with 100% confidence) by the Uncertainty Principle.

To me, this is in many ways a foundational principle behind the IDEAL of decentralization in crypto. No small entity should be able to know about the STATE of the network and its DIRECTION at the same time. To be incapable of that IS TO BE decentralized, and the converse is also true.

The upgrade roadmaps seem to run counter to this, expressing to know both status AND direction.
